Romeo Jozak is the new head coach of Legia Warsaw
"Romeo Jozak is one of the most accomplished and charismatic people in Croatian football. He's the brains behind numerous achievements of Dinamo Zagreb - a club, where there are similar pressure for success and limitations as in Lgia. Today Legia needs a charismatic leader, who will get across to the players, who haven't played at their full potential in the last months. Legia needs to be shaked, because we are facing the task of winning the championship of Poland again, and returning to the path of constant development. Although the decision to change the head coach was made in the last days, for a couple of months we have been discussing a strategy of development based on scouting and training - similar to the one implemented successfully by Romeo Jozak in Dinamo. I believe that his international experience and mental proximity will make him adapt to Legia quickly, and that he will be aid to the whole Club, leading us to success in Poland and European cups," said Dariusz Mioduski, President of the Legia Warsaw Management Board.
The 45-year-old Jozak is not only a coach. He holds a PhD degree, he's a manager, enthusiast and a professional. Since 2008 he built the power of Dinamo Zagreb, the academy of which won a prestigious ECA award as one of the six best academies in Europe. Jozak was the director of the academy, lately served as the sports director of Dinamo, was also the second team coach, and an assistant coach in the first team.
He used his youth training experience in the Croatian Football Association, having been coach of youth national teams. He was responsible for sports development of all the national teams, including the senior one, which played in World Cup in Brazil (2014) and the Euro 2016 in France.
Romeo Jozak speaks fluent English, German and Spanish, participates in international science conferences and seminaries, passing on his knowledge to other football enthusiasts worldwide, including Poland. He's also written a number of scientific papers.
Aleksandar Vuković will remain in the coaching staff as Jozak's assistant. Krzysztof Dowhań and Wojciech Kowalewski will still be responsible for the goalkeepers. Fitness coach Sebastian Krzepota will be replaced by 40-year-old Kresimir Sos.
He's an experienced coach, who started his professional career in 2001. In 2003 he started working for the second team of Dinamo Zagreb, focusing mainly on individual training of the most talented players. Sos planned additional training sessions for them.
Between 2003 and 2004 he was the fitness coach of youth Libia national teams, and later he worked for Dinamo academy and national team of Croatia.
Since 2012, Sos was responsible for fitness in the first team of Dinamo Zagreb, a team regularly playing in the group stages of European cups.
Ivan Kepcija joins Legia together with coach Jozak, and he will take the office of a newly-formed position of Technical Director. He will coordinate all of the sports areas in the Club, which will ensure long-term planning and conrinuity in making decisions. Kepcija's task will be to implement Club's strategy and philosophy, as well as to coordinate development and education of coaches working in the Club. He will be accountable directly to the President of the Management Board, and coordinate work of other areas, co-operating with the Head Scout and Academy Director, although he will not be their immediate superior.
Kepcija is a former football player. He played for Croatian club Jadran Porec in the 2nd and 3rd tier. After his playing career he focused on education and hold degrees from the Univeristy of Zagreb, and Saint Marry's College in California.
He spent last three years in Croatia, working with youth national teams and youth teams of Dinamo. He was responsible for planning and controlling the development of players, for educating coaches, supervising the development of sport science, recruiting coaches, and creating new scouting structures.
