Legia in Intertoto Cup
The first edition of Intertoto Cup – called International Football Cup back then – was held in 1961. First six editions consisted of group stage and knockout phase, but in 1967 the latter was cancelled and no winner of Intertoto Cup was selected until 1994. Then UEFA took custody of this competition and in the first season two final games of equal rank were held (three in the next years). The winners were promoted to the UEFA Cup.
Another change was made in 2006. It was decided that the Intertoto Cup would consist of three rounds only and eleven teams be therefore promoted to the UEFA Cup.
Legia played in the Intertoto Cup in five seasons – 1968, 1974, 1976-77, 1985-86 (when there was a group stage only) and in 2007.
