Dariusz Mioduski in the highest authorities of European football
ECA associates 220 best European football clubs and it aims at representing the whole enviroment of club football internationally. Since 2015 Legia have been one of the 105 ordinary members of the association, which have a full voting right and the right to stand for election to the association's highest authorities. The ECA General Assembly have been debating in Geneva since September 7.
'I am very happy that representatives of European clubs trusted my vision of developing European football and supported my candidacy to ECA Management Board,' said Dariusz Mioduski. 'The fact that I find myself in the circle of such partners as Karl-Heinz Rummenigge of Bayern Munich, Andrea Agnelli of Juventus, Edward Woodward of Manchester United or Edwin Van der Sar of Ajax proves that the position of Polish football in Europe is constantly increasing.'
The most important executive body of ECA, that is the Executive Board, consists of 15 representatives of member clubs. The ordinary members choose eleven of them from among themselves. The other four members of Executive Board are the ECA representatives in Professional Football Strategy Council UEFA. Among the members are the representatives of i.a. Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Juventus, Olympique Lyonnaise, Ajax, Arsenal, Anderlecht or Celtic.
'Since this year two members of ECA Executive Board are also in the UEFA Executive Commiteee, and this number is to increase in the next years,' points Mioduski. 'It proves that ECA's influence is still growing in European football. Even today it results in specific decisions made by UEFA, such as having increased the means generated in European cups which go directly to the clubs, as well as FIFA, with whom ECA negotiated 200 million dollars of compensation for the clubs, whose players will participate in World Cup in 2018 and 2022. It's three times as many as FIFA has paid so far.'
Today ECA is one of the most important entities in the global football business, the global value of which icreases year by year by approximately 10 percent and now exceeds 15 million dollars. The association also plays a very important role in the process of developing the rules of Financial Fair Play with UEFA. 'It's very important for our voice to be heard in the debabte about the shape of European football,' said Mioduski. 'The mandate I have been given by the ECA General Assembly allows me not only to appear for Legia Warsaw or the whole Polish club football, but also lets me represent the interests and standpoint of all of our region's club football. It is a huge challenge, but also a big honour.'
What proves Legia Warsaw's increasing meaning in ECA structures is also the fact that launching of ECA Executive Management Programme was announced during the General Assembly, a programme for the best managers working in European football. One of its units and the gala which will sum up its first edition will be held at the Legia Warsaw stadium. This means that Legia will host one of the most elite events in European club football in 2017.
