Henning Berg signs new contract!
Henning Berg started his job as the manager of Legia Warsaw in December 2013, having replaced the previous coach Jan Urban. In his first season, the Norwegian won the Polish championship and then lead Legia to a major success in Europa League, where our team finished top of the table in the group L, thus securing the promotion to the round of 32.
The previous contract would have expired in June 2016 and it's just been renewed for two more years. Henning Berg will remain Legia Warsaw manager until June 2018. His ambition, determination and dedication made Berg a perfect candidate for developing the Club in the coming years.
'This is a big day for me. I've been here for one year now and I really enjoy working at this Club - with all these people, the players, the staff, the owners, the board and the administration. It's a good place to work, as everyone is going in the same direction, having the same ambition - to improve all the time. As a coach, I'm able to work the way I feel is right.
'It's not what I want, it's what the Club want. We all want to be the best we can be and this new contract gives Legia continuity and stability. I'm happy to stay here for longer and I'm looking forward to improve the team, the Club, the players and everybody even more. What we've done so far has been very good but we still want to get better everyday.
'The most important thing for me now is that we do the right thing in the next six months and then the next year. It's a vote of confidence from the management and the owners that they like what we're doing and that it's something they want to continue. For me to sign this contract is also for the rest of the staff, who are doing a really good job and the players, who are playing really well and developing with the right mentality, focus and quality,' said Henning Berg after signing the new deal.
