Legia and Ericsson at the Connected Stadium Summit at Wembley

On the 24th and 25th of November, in Wembley Stadium, London, was the Connected Stadium Summit - the most important European conference related to ''connected venues'', meaning stadium technology and their use. The Marketing Director of Legia Warsaw, Wiktor Cegła, took part in the conference, who, with Martin Mellor from Ericsson, spoke about starting up the Wi-Fi network at the Legia stadium.

Representatives of Legia and Ericsson took part in the first edition Connected Stadium Summit with an invitation from the organisers. The conference took part on the 24th and 25th of November in Wembley Stadium in London and it was the largest forum of modern stadium technology in Europe. 

 

On the agenda of the conference plan were four main subjects, with the attendees talking about and discussing: improving the digital experience and engaging fans for 24 hours a day 7 days a week; connectivity and innovative sponsorship; strategies combining modern technologies and supporting mobile connectivity.

 

At the conference, some of the biggest stadium management boards had presentations, including the management of the Amsterdam ArenA and Wembley. There were speakers from the Norwegian league authorities, Swedish Football Assocation, FIS and UEFA. There were also guests from the biggest technological companies in the world, such as Google, Huawei, Deutsche Telekom and Swisscom. 

 

Wiktor Cegła (Legia Warsaw) and Martin Mellor (Ericsson) spoke about starting up an open Wi-Fi network at Legia’s stadium for the fans. The presentation was about how the easy connection with fast internet at #Ł3 strengthens the match experience of the fans, the reaction of the fans of the Wi-Fi soft launch, and of Legia’s wider plans, which the club can make a reality thanks to the new network. 

 

Other than the presentation, the Marketing Director of Legia Warsaw Wiktor Cegła ran an roundtable discussion concerning managing fans experience. Also running the discussion was Peter McKenna, director of Croke Park Stadium in Dublin (the fourth largest stadium in Europe). 

 

- We are very happy that our next steps for innovation are noticed by organisers of the largest conferences for stadium technology. We are proud that we are one of the few clubs in the world which can talk about this subject - said Wiktor Cegła, Marketing Director of Legia Warsaw.

 

- It was a great experience to present, together with Wiktor Cegla, the successful Legia Warsaw / Ericsson Connected Venue partnership at the Connected Stadium Summit at Wembley this week. There was a lot of interest from major stadiums all over Europe and, based on the feedback we received, it is clear that the Connected Venue we have built together makes Legia Warsaw one of the best connected stadiums in Europe - said Martin Mellor, Head of Engagement Practices, Customer Unit Central Europe, Ericsson.
