Jakub Laskowski Appointed a CAS Arbitrator
Jakub Laskowski is going to be a member of both the general list of CAS abitrators, which brings together about 390 arbitrators from around the world, and - as the only representative of Poland - the football list of approximately 70 arbitrators who specialise in the football law. Laskowski has been nominated for the 2019-2022 term.
CAS is the biggest and most important sports tribunal in the world, which settles disputes submitted to its jurisdiction, but also - what is crucial in reference to football - consider appeals against decisions made by jurisdictional and disciplinary bodies of FIFA and UEFA.
Jakub Laskowski has worked with Legia Warsaw since 2013. Before that, he worked in a Warsaw-based office of an international law firm. Currently, as the Director of Sports & Legal Administration, he manages club's legal issues connected with sports law and administration, including preparing legal documentation for transfers and contracts, commencing proceedings before domestic and international jurisdicial and disciplinary bodies, as well as providing legal services related to Legia Football Academy, mass event safety, relations with domestic and international football associations, and the contruction of the Legia Training Center.
Laskowski also work together with Ekstraklasa SA and European Clus Association (ECA), where he serves as member of the ECA Legal Advisory Panel, which passes judgement on legal matters connected with clubs' activities in European football business, and member of the ECA Transfer Expert Group, a workgroup which actively participate in works related to reforming the FIFA transfer system.
Laskowski is an arbitrator of the Football Amicable Court (jurisdicial body of Polish Football Association, sociation), and member of he PFA's Social Dialogue Committee. He alco co-authored several PFA's regulations, published papers on sports law, and spoke at numerous domestic and international conferences on that subject. Moreover, he is a lecturer at the Master in International Sports Law programmes held at the Higher Institute of Law and Economics (ISDE) in Madrid.
Jakub Laskowski is a doctor of law and legal counsel. He has an MA and PhD degrees received at the University of Warsaw's Faculty of Law and Administration, where in 2017 he defended his PhD thesis on football law entitled "Legal Aspects of Transfer of a Football Player". He also graduated from the University of Warwick in Great Britain (LL.M. Governance and Financial Regulations).
