Legia are preparing for the spring
The Militarians flew to Alicante on Tuesday, January 10, from the Warsaw Modlin airport. From Alicante they then had a 40-minute ride to Melia Villaitana hotel in Benidorm, which was their base for the camp. The place was also visited by Schalke 04, Arminia Bielefeld, and Grasshopper Club Zurich. There were four fantastic training pitches just 200 metres outside the hotel, and everyone kept praising the conditions.
There were two training sessions each day, aside from the pre-test games days, when the Militarians practiced only once. Normally, the morning session was without balls, only about strenght and stamina, with the afternoon training session dedicated more to typical football elements.
The players all said that the trainings were very hard, but that's usually the case with the first winter camp for the Polish players. After three weeks of vacation the team needs to build the physical form for the whole season.
During the camp in Benidorm Legia played two test games, against Arminia Bielefeld (1-2), and Grasshopper Club Zurich (0-0). "I'm happy about them, and I'm happy about the whole camp, because we managed to carry out everything we had planned," said head coach Jacek Magiera last day.
On Tuesday, January 24, Legia are flying to Spain again, this time to La Manga. The duration of the second camp is going to be the same (11 days), but this time our team will play four test matches. One week after returning from La Manga, the Militarians play their first official game in 2017 - against Arka Gdynia in LOTTO Ekstraklasa.
