Legia – Górnik: Let's end this exceptional year with a victory!

Author: Roberto Cura
Legia Warsaw are preparing themselves for their last challenge of the year. The Militarians opponent in their home game will be against Górnik Łęczna. Will our players get revenge for the unexpected loss in the fifth game of the season?

Before the last LOTTO Ekstraklasa game of the year our team reside in third place on the league table, behind Lechia Gdańsk and Jagiellonia Białystok. In the last round the players of Jacek Mageria showed their great form, with a confident 5:1 win against Gliwice. After two goals from Nemanja Nikolić and Miroslav Radović, the ever-reliable Vadis Odjidja Ofoe managed to add in a fifth.

Likewise, fans of Łęczna had reason to be happy last weekend. Górnik defeated at home the revelation of this season – Bruk-Bet Termalicę Nieciecza, with a high score of 3:0. Goals came from Paweł Sasin, Piotr Grzelczak and Szymon Drewniak. Despite this, this week there was an unexpected change of coach. The new manager was named Franciszek Smuda. For this experienced manager and undoubtedly colourful character, a game against Legia are always an exciting experience, so he will arrive at Łazienkowska doubly motivated.

In regards to the Militarians motivation, there is no doubt of that. The game will be a chance to make up for their first meeting with Górnik this season, in the stadium at Lublin, which the hosts won 1:0, with the winning goal being scored by Vojo Ubiparip. Now, four months later, our players will have the chance to once again play against the team from Lublin.

Predicted line-ups

Legia: Malarz – Bereszyński, Pazdan, Rzeźniczak, Guilherme – Kopczyński, Odjidja – Kucharczyk, Hamalainen, Radović – Nikolić

Górnik: Prusak – Sasin, Szmatiuk, Gerson, Leandro – Tymiński, Drewniak – Bonin, Śpiączka, Piesio – Grzelczak

Worth paying attention to – Legia Warsaw

Michał Pazdan – the Polish international has been in good physical form for the last few weeks, working alongside Jakub Rrzeźniczak to create a well-functioning duo in the centre of defence.

Bartosz Bereszński – one of the heroes for the Militarians during the autumn period. A good performance against Górnik will complete an exceptionally successful month.

Miroslav Radović – no one can now doubt the legitimacy of his return to Legia. The Serb is playing like at the peak of his career, and we are counting on him on Sunday to complete in style a successful second half of the year.

Worth paying attention to – Górnik Łęczna

Paweł Sasin – an experience defender, who got his name on the scoresheet in the last game against Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza.

Gerson – a talented Brazilian defender who will be looking to rebuild his form after a few unsuccessful months at Lechia Gdańsk.

Let’s hope that the next year will be even better!

Behind Legia Warsaw is a rather intensive year, full of many experiences but above all successes. Qualification to the UEFA Champions’ League group stages, in which they finished in 3rd place, and within their country they gained the Championship and the Polish Cup. The game against Górnik will be the last time this year to thank the Militarians for all the experiences and emotions that they provided us these past months. For the last time, this year we shall fill up the stadium at Łazienkowska, in the hope of witnessing another victory. The game starts tomorrow at 18:00. We’ll see you there!
