Mateusz Żyro has extended his contract with Legia
The defender started training with Legia at the age of seven. From the 2005/2006 season he played in junior teams. He was joined to the reserve team in the season 2014/2015. He played in 30 games in Legia II. From February 2017, Żyro trains with the first team of Legia, in which he has played two matches - with Arka Gdynia in the Super Cup and Ruch Zdzieszowice in the Polish Cup.
"We see Mateusz and his similar players as the future of Legia. We are happy that we have extended the contract. We gave him a signal that we are counting on him in the future and we appreciate the work he has done here so far. Mateusz has a great period behind him, but the most important for his future is a regular game. That's why we decided to loan him to Wigry Suwałki by the end of this season. He will be able to play much more than if he stayed in Legia. When he returns to us in the summer, he will be even better player. We do not see him as someone who is going to influence the team, but we believe that in the he will be one of the most important players of our defense in the future" said club technical director Ivan Kepcija.
