Michał Żewłakow appointed as Legia’s new sporting director

During his previous tenure at the club, Legia won three Polish championships, two Polish Cups and advanced to the group stage of the UEFA Champions League - the first Polish club to do so in two decades. Żewłakow is also a former Legia captain and a prominent Polish national team player who featured at the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups and UEFA EURO 2008.

Marcin Herra, managing vice-president of Legia Warsaw, emphasises:

‘Entrusting the function of sporting director to Michał Żewłakow is a decision based on his vast experience, knowledge of the market and ability to build a team fighting for the highest goals. Michał understands the philosophy of our club very well and his knowledge will be crucial in the further development of the team.’

Michal Żewłakow, Legia Warsaw's new sporting director, said:

‘Returning to Legia is a huge challenge for me. I know the ambitions of this club and its fans - together we will work to make Legia achieve further success both in the domestic competitions and in European cups.’

Michal Żewłakow has signed a contract with the club until the end of the 2026/27 season. Information on further decisions concerning the sports management, including the person in charge of sports strategy and development at the club, will be communicated in the near future.
